Qualification Objective
This qualification will give learners the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills to support individuals with learning disabilities. It is aimed at learners who, as part of their job role, support individuals with learning disabilities.
This qualification meets the Learning Disabilities Core Skills Education and Training Framework which was commissioned and funded by the Department of Health and developed in collaboration by Skills for Health, Health Education England (HEE) and Skills for Care to support the development of workers in their understanding of learning disabilities.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
The qualification is made up of four mandatory, and one optional, units:
• Unit 1 Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
• Unit 2 Understand how to promote inclusion and effective communication when supporting individuals with learning disabilities
• Unit 3 Supporting older people with learning disabilities
• Unit 4 Understand how to promote positive behaviour
How is it assessed?
This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally verified portfolio of evidence.

This qualification is available fully funded under the Adult Skills Fund stream and is free to the candidate.
