What does this qualification cover?
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare for further learning or training and/or develop knowledge and/or skills in a subject area
By completing the qualification, learners will develop knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where they have a duty of care.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is an introduction to health social care and children’s and young people’s settings and is for those who are wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of this role

How is this qualification structured?
The qualification is made up of seven mandatory units:
• Unit 1 Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care _adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
• Unit 2 Introductory awareness of person-centred support in health, social care and childrens and young peoples settings
• Unit 3 Understand the principles and values in health and social care adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
• Unit 4 Introductory awareness of equality and inclusion in health, social care and childrens and young peoples settings
• Unit 5 Awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
• Unit 6 Introduction to communication in health and social care adults and children and young people, early years and childcare
• Unit 7 Introductory awareness of health and safety in health, social care and childrens and young peoples settings
How is it assessed?
This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally verified portfolio of evidence.

This qualification is available fully funded under the Adult Skills Fund stream and is free to the candidate.
